How to Choose the Right Bra Size When Shopping Online

17/08/2026 à 14:41

Buying a bra online can feel complicated.

How can you be sure you are choosing the right size?
How do you know whether the cup will provide enough coverage?
How can you avoid straps slipping, a band riding up or underwires feeling uncomfortable?

At Apodesme, I believe that a beautiful bra should not only look beautiful.

It should be made to suit your body.

And when shopping online, taking a few accurate measurements is already an important step towards finding a bra that truly fits you.

1. Don't rely only on the size of your old bra

This is one of the most common mistakes.

The size you have been wearing for years may no longer be the right one. Your body can change, and sizing can also vary between brands depending on the cut and construction.

However, an old bra can still be a useful reference if it genuinely fits you well.

At Apodesme, I can also personally help you choose the right size before you place your order.

2. Take your measurements correctly

All you need is a soft measuring tape.

Ideally, take your measurements while wearing an unpadded bra that fits you properly.

Stand naturally and breathe normally.

The tape should be:

  • horizontal across your back;
  • parallel to the floor;
  • comfortably against your body;
  • neither too tight nor too loose.

Measure around the fullest part of your bust.

Apodesme also provides a detailed bra measurement guide to help you before ordering.

3. One measurement is not enough

This is important.

Choosing a bra is not simply about finding a number and a letter.

You also need to consider:

Your underbust measurement
This contributes directly to the support around your torso.

Your bust measurement
This helps determine the volume of your breast.

The shape of your breasts
Two women with theoretically the same size can have very different body shapes.

The bra construction
A triangle, balconette or full-cup bra will not fit and support the breast in exactly the same way.

That is why a personalised approach can make such a difference.

4. Look at how your bra behaves on your body

A size can appear correct on the label and still not feel comfortable.

Here are some signs to watch for:

Does the back band ride up?
The band may need to be reassessed.

Are your breasts spilling out of the cups?
The cup volume or shape may not be right.

Are there wrinkles in the cups?
The cup may be too large, or simply not suited to your breast shape.

Do your straps constantly slip?
The adjustment, cut or strap placement may be responsible.

Do the underwires feel uncomfortable?
They should surround the breast without pressing into it.

A well-fitting bra should allow you to move, breathe and live comfortably.

5. The right size also depends on the style

Apodesme offers different constructions, including triangle, balconette and full-cup styles, each designed to shape and support the bust differently.

A triangle can create a light, naturally sensual silhouette.

A balconette can enhance the décolleté.

A fuller cup can provide a greater feeling of coverage and support.

So the question isn't only:

"What is my size?"

It is also:

"Which style is right for my body?"

6. Still unsure?

This is where buying high-end lingerie online should feel different from buying a standard product.

At Apodesme, you don't have to rely on a size chart alone.

I personally help you choose the right style and size before you order. If you are unsure how to interpret your measurements, simply contact me.
